About IELTS
SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS UAE is an authorized IELTS test venue in partnership with the British Council. IELTS is a highly regarded international test of English language proficiency. It is owned in partnership with IDP IELTS Australia, the British Council and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
IELTS is recognised by professional bodies, academic institutions, immigration authorities and government agencies alike as a dependable and practical test of English. It is primarily used by people seeking an international education, professional development, or by those seeking to satisfy migration requirements and is accepted by thousands of organisations in over 135 countries.
Academic or General Training?
IELTS has two formats – Academic and General Training. You will need to know which format of the test to take when you complete the IELTS Application Form. If you are in doubt, contact the organisation or institution to which you are applying to find out what it requires.
Test Format
IELTS has four modules – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done in one sitting. The Speaking test may be on the same day or up to seven days before or after the other tests. You will be advised of the time for your speaking interview when you apply.
Repeating the Test
You may repeat the IELTS test at any time.

Required Identification
On the day of the test, you must present your original, valid passport; or UAE National ID for identification purposes only.
Please note that you will not be allowed to enter the exam hall without original ID that you used during your registration.
