The 14th Gulf Engineering Forum – Dubai

19th – 20th October 2010

The 14th Gulf Engineering Forum inaugurated on 19 December 2010 by Engineer Hussein Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality at Intercontinental Dubai Festival City Hotel. The three-day event has attracted over 600 members from the various Societies of Engineering across GCC convene in Dubai to discuss transportation issues in the region.
The forum focuses on intelligent transportation system in the region. The keynote addresses and case studies will be centered on challenges, strategies and policies for achieving intelligent transportation systems in the region.

2. Dr. Yaser E. Hawas – Professor of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, UAE University
3. Eng. Mark Henaway – Senior ITS Engineer, Parsons International

During the forum, the Dubai Road Transport Authority (RTA) demonstrate its remarkable achievements and expertise in using modern technologies, ensuring environmentally friendly practices, as well as saving time and effort through full connected transportation networks.

Concurrent with the three-day conference, an exhibition organised to showcase various engineering developments in transportation across government and private sectors in GCC. Technical visits also made to various transport departments in Dubai including the Dubai Metro, its control units and public transportation.

The Gulf Engineering Forum is organised by the Gulf Engineering Union which is an umbrella body for Society of Engineers across the GCC. The UAE hosted previous editions of the event in 1998 and 2004. Founded in 1997, The Gulf Engineering Union participates in setting up engineering legislation, systems and codes as well as the rules of practice within the profession. It also functions to nurture and develop engineers from the Gulf region.
