Society of Engineers - UAE was formally organized on April 03, 1979 by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs - Ministerial Decree No. 331 1979 –granting the registration of “Society of Engineers - UAE”.
The foundation of Society of Engineers - UAE had started in the midst of the economic growth in the UAE. The founders had witnessed an exceptional development in the construction industry and the continuous increase of engineers working in all the engineering fields. The founders became aware of their great responsibility to be a part of this growth and to form a professional association which will include all the engineers working in the UAE.
The founders started to analyze the best concepts and means to form a strong and effective engineering association in the UAE by taking in consideration the experience of the other engineering associations in the GCC countries. The founders formulate a provisional administrative committee who prepares the articles of the engineering association and follow up the registration in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
Thereafter, the Minister of Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs issued the Ministerial Decree No. 33 1979 approving the registration of Society of Engineers - UAE.

Society of Engineers - UAE became the representative of the United Arab Emirates in the international meetings and assemblies of the Federation of Arab Engineers and World Federation of Engineering Organization.
Society of Engineers - UAE collaborates with all the GCC Engineering Associations in creating the Gulf Engineering Union which is conducted annually to enhance the role of the engineers and their profession in the Gulf region.
Society of Engineers - UAE supported Ministry of Public Works and Housing in the issuance of Ministerial Decree No.245/7 of 1983 regarding the Rehabilitation of Local Engineering Consultant Offices to comprehend the following:

Developing the engineering expertise and experience of the local engineers. |

Formation of codes of practice for the progress of local engineers’ skills and ability for planning and executing the future of UAE. |

Reserve, develop and promote the local resources. |
Society of Engineers - UAE collaborates with Ministry of Public Works and General Secretariat of Municipalities in preparing the rules and regulations for practicing the engineering profession in the UAE.
Society of Engineers - UAE received the following awards:

Sharjah Charity Awards 2003 - for the distinctive efforts and various participations in different voluntary works in the UAE. |

Recognition of ISO 9001 as the first engineering association acquired the ISO certification in 2004. |

Letter of Gratitude from H.E. Mattar Humaid Al Tayer, Minister – Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (1997 – 1999) for its distinctive participation in voluntary works and outstanding service to the community of UAE. |

Society of Engineers – UAE won a prestigious CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Initiative of the Year Award |

Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport - Special Awards Category- (The Media Coverage Award) - 2 Times Awardee (2011 & 2012) |
Society of Engineers - UAE participated in the issuance of the regulations in Practicing of Engineering Consultancy work in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman Municipalities.
Society of Engineers - UAE signed Memorandum of Understanding and collaborates with UAE University, American University of Sharjah, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Dubai Municipality and Al Ain Municipality.
Society of Engineers - UAE prepared and set a system for the technical examining of the engineers who supervise and manage the projects related to Abu Dhabi Municipality.
Society of Engineers - UAE prepared the “Agreement for the Provision of Consultancy Engineering Services”.
Society of Engineers - UAE is conducting scientific forums, conferences, exhibitions, free seminars, and training courses that will benefit the engineers and all the attendees.
Society of Engineers - UAE celebrates its 34 years of exceptional service to the public. We have accomplished outstanding achievements in accrediting the engineering certifications, regulating professional practices, standards and specifications and developing the skills and qualifications of all engineers in the UAE by our International accreditation committee.

Society of Engineers - UAE established Training and Development Centre to rehabilitate the engineers’ professional skills and expertise in both government and private sectors. |
The continuous increase of the engineers working in the UAE is the main factor why in 2003 Society of Engineers - UAE finally recognizes the need to build a Training & Development Center that will focus on the professional development of the engineers in the UAE.
Training & Development Slogan: “Step By Step for Brighter Future”
From 2003 to 2008 Training & Development Center becomes a success as the center continuous to conduct numerous training courses, seminars, conferences and forums. The center also focuses in organizing international training courses were the engineers in the UAE interacts and communicates with the other engineers in the GCC and other countries.
FIDIC, Arbitration, Primavera, QPM, PMP, Construction Contracts, Etabs, BOQ, HVAC and CBP are just some of the training courses that the center provides. There are now 100 Engineering Courses, 20 IT Courses and 80 Technical and Management Courses that is currently offered by the center and expected to increase in the coming years.
The Training and Development Center collaborates with different organizations, private companies and government sectors to produce a seminar that will be valuable to all the engineers to be aware of the latest technologies that is offered in the UAE market.
Society of Engineers - UAE also established Arbitration Center as society witnessed a remarkable progress in the economic, commercial and engineering construction in UAE, which sometimes inevitably leads to claims and disputes of two legally bind parties and offers consultations to solve disputes whether for the best or by the separation.
The Employment Center has been established to provide employment and job opportunities to all its members to have a position in the government and private sectors.
The membership in Society of Engineers - UAE is continuously increasing its members as it now reach to 36,000 and still expected to grow in the coming years.
