Dear Colleagues,
The United Arab Emirates under the wise leadership and directions of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of
the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and
Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, Senate Members of the Supreme Council of the Federation, plays a leading
role in supporting the Society of Engineers ­ UAE in developing the technical expertise and professional qualifications of the engineers
in the UAE. From this prospective the SOE adapts the Engineer 2020 Initiative which focused on the rehabilitation and development of
its members expertise, enhancing the skills of university students and encouragement of students in schools to join engineering colleges
in which they can be developed as the future leaders. SOE has launched this initiative last January 2014 and offered it free of charge to
all its participants. SOE aspires that through this initiative talented and creative generations can be produce, on a belief that the march
to success has no barriers to open new horizons in all area of work and social life. The following courses were scheduled in Dubai and
Abu Dhabi: Green Building Core - Preparation to LEED GA Exam, Value Engineering, Green Information Technology, Structural
Engineering & Etabs Software, Effective Leadership, Quantity Surveying & BOQ, The New FIDIC Red Book 99' and Project
Management.
SOE has trained and rehabilitate 530 participants through eight training programs which cost reaching to approximately AED 1.5
million believing on the importance of investment in education will result to the development of expertise and capabilities in the
engineering sector and will ensure the best engineering practices in the UAE. SOE also focuses on the rehabilitation of the engineering
university students through their participation in training courses and communicates with different engineers from government and
private sectors which will create a platform to transfer experience and knowledge to develop their skills which is reflecting positively in
the advancement of the engineering sector and coping with the tremendous advancement in engineering technology.
In line with the vision of the wise leadership of their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, SOE supports the emaratization, rehabilitation
and qualifying the UAE citizens as they are the main engine to the fast development of the economic industry and engineering sector.
SOE encourage them to become the future leaders of our country. SOE focus on its social responsibility and professional attention to the
students by participating in the Career Fairs of various universities and colleges in the UAE like Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT)
and American University in Dubai (AUD) where a lot of students have come to its stand to know the most important services provided by
the SOE, the training and internship opportunities in the government and private sectors which will enables them to gain expertise and
necessary skills to start their careers as well as to be aware of the most important requirements in the work and business market
requirements and the new programs and initiatives that support the emaratization and high qualification skills.
Society of Engineers ­ UAE has won the Golden Shield of Excellence Award for supporting the best environmental practices throughout
Middle East in 2014, the culmination of their efforts in support of the application of sustainability in various sectors especially in
environmental field through organizing several initiatives, events, conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses for engineers
in addition to scientific articles and awareness in World of Engineering magazine, where SOE focus on spreading a culture of
environmental sustainability through its 32,000 members and qualify them in the field of application of the best sustainable practices
and adapting best standards to achieve sustainable development in their organizations, through this the SOE has launched several
initiatives in cooperation with the United Nations and international engineering association towards Global Sustainability and Saving
Environment and Natural Resources in order to attain sustainable cities.
