Dear Colleagues
On behalf of the Society of Engineers-UAE and the World of Engineering Magazine Editorial Board, I would like to welcome
you and share with you the World of Engineering Magazine 70th issue. We promise that we would persistently proceed on
delivering the magazine in a routinely, systematic, innovative and novel content. We would also like to invite everyone to
contribute and share your valuable expertise and experience for the development of engineering profession and activating the
role of engineers in various fields of engineering work in the United Arab Emirates.
The Society is involved in the event of gallery lighting in the Middle East, which will be held from October 7th to 9th, 2013. The
main objective is to raise awareness in preserving the environment through green buildings and lighting solutions in the UAE,
as well as awareness of the best experiences in the field of lighting and energy saving. During the event there will be a speech on
lighting in the Middle East for the best projects by four experts in the field. Other events include on the delivery of speeches
regarding Project Management on the first day, and the Effectiveness of Arbitration and Contract management and Disputes
in the field on construction projects on the second day; in which 400 participants from all over the world are expected to
attend. The Society is also participating in different events such as GITEX, the arbitration of college award students in the
exhibition as well as the Cityscape Dubai and other cities of the future.
The Society is also preparing for the upcoming conference, the first tunneling conference in the Middle East and Africa. The
event titled as "The First Arabian Tunneling Conference and Exhibition to focus on the Sustainable Use of Underground
Space" will be held on 10th to 11th December, 2013 in coordination with International Tunneling and Underground Space
Association (ITA). 70 experts in the field and more than 30 companies are expected to attend in the two day conference.
Therefore all engineers are kindly asked to attend this conference. One of the well-known participants will deliver a speech on
Risk Management.
The Society also issued its third edition of the discount programs guide for engineers as it is the responsibility of the Society to
provide the best services to its engineers. In this edition, nearly 60 service providers at state level are involved. 25 free seminars
for the last quarter of the year are also included in the edition, venues will be held in Society of Engineers Dubai and Abu-
Dhabi. Around 3,000 engineers are expected to attend.
As a result of its continuous efforts in leadership and excellence of various engineering sectors, the Society has received
numerous certifications and awards, such as the best media coverage for sustainable transport, best community responsibility
in the field of sustainability plus other appreciation and thank you certificates from various quarters as well as the honor of
Certificate from the Ministry of Labor. The Society has also renewed its ISO certification quality for three more years.
In conclusion, I would like to convey my gratitude to all Society of Engineers -UAE staff, the Editorial Board Team and those
who contributed their valuable time and work in the magazine to make it rich in content and effective, in which the completion
of the issuance of the magazine would have been impossible. I sure hope I'm sure the readers will enjoy reading the magazine.
