UAE Society of Engineers announced that the first UAE Project Management Conference for Mastering Project Management in Mega Projects adheres in its objectives to the vision of our wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and is held as part of the implementation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve sustainable development and enhance Dubai's position in the green economy field, presenting this Emirate as a local and international hub for creativity and exchange of expertise.
His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority and President of the UAE Society of Engineers, has stated that the project and risk management for mega projects is considered one of the most vital instruments, having a direct impact on the achievement of our wise government's strategic objectives to become a leading contributor to global sustainable development by committing to implement sustainability methods and practices in the management techniques of engineering projects, whether in construction or infrastructure-related areas, with the aim of raising energy efficiency levels, preserving natural resources and creating a sustainable environment that contributes to improving the quality of life in the country and thus promoting the development process.
Maidour also added that one of the most important goals lying behind UAE Society of Engineers' organization of this event is to create an interactive platform for all strategic partners in the project management field for discussing key aspirations and challenges in this regard. The conference has succeeded in drawing many keynote speakers from governmental agencies and departments in the UAE, who represent the most prominent national cadres that have contributed to the development of the project management field and enhancement of the country's leadership in the infrastructure field. The event will feature the participation of HE Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, UAE Civil Defence General Commander in Chief, HE Dr. Eng Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa), and HE Engineer Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Director General of Fujairah Municipality, taking into consideration that this effective participation of official governmental speakers reflects the leading and integrated role played by the public sector in the development and promotion of the engineering field at the level of the state.
For his part, Mr. Maged Farouk Hanna, Director General of UAE Society of Engineers, said that the conference has been met with a distinct and rapid support by governmental agencies and global engineering organizations, and on the other hand, the strategic partnership with the private sector contributes directly to the success of the event, especially that Nakheel Properties is the main sponsor of this event, which reflects the responsibility to abide by the highest international standards and practices in the implementation of mega-engineering projects and to encourage innovation and creativity through engineering cadres possessing outstanding capabilities in the management of all types of projects and deliverables.
Furthermore, Maged Hanna added that Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) will participate as a sponsor of the Young Engineers Forum that is organized by UAE Society of Engineers on the sidelines of its conference and with the participation of the students of engineering faculties from various local, Arab and international universities, in addition to the fact that UAE Society of Engineers has tailored a program to the needs of this forum, where it will be presented by experts in the field of project management.
